2 Mather Avenue, Weston Point, Runcorn, WA7 4JJ
Dunkys Day Nursery Runcorn is located within the Weston Point area of Runcorn. The building is very spacious indoors with an extensive garden area.
The nursery is arranged over 2 floors and caters for children from 0 to 5 years. We also have the facilities for breakfast club, after school and holiday club for children 5 – 13 years, with the flexibility of term time only and shift rota contracts available for all age groups.
On the lower floor we have a large baby unit which has access to 2 spacious rooms, a large Pre-School room along with “Our Den” which is a room where the children can relax and enjoy quiet time. Our rooms are very comfortable and equipped with lots of soft furnishings where the children can relax and spend quality time making new friends and learning new skills in the stimulating and educational environment.
Our garden area has a soft play area along with our very own nature trail and gardening area where we grow all our own fruit and vegetables. The garden area also has a sheltered gazebo therefore allowing the children to enjoy the outdoor environment whatever the weather. We offer the children the same opportunities outdoors as well as indoors to ensure that they have the best possible start in our indoor/outdoor classrooms. The children can express themselves freely and be in charge of their own learning whilst being supported by familiar adults who provide opportunities and help.
On the upper floor we have 3 large rooms which accommodate the Toddlers and the Out of school children; these are also very spacious with lots of educational resources and up to date equipment.
We encourage the children’s independence and they are involved in making decisions about their rooms and equipment.
Our curriculum is based on each individual child and their stage of development as well as their current interests. We offer a wide range of opportunities such as creative & messy play, sensory play, baking, knowledge and understanding of the world, imaginative play and role play, problem solving reasoning and numeracy, information & communication technology and much more.
All our rooms offer quiet areas where your child can just relax, read a book, listen to music or just to have a sit and chat with their friends. All our staff are very dedicated and highly experienced practitioners who all hold current childcare qualifications level 3 – including first aid, basic food hygiene, safeguarding and much more.
We pride ourselves on our friendly but professional approach and foster excellent relationships with the parents and children in our care. We operate a key person procedure which enables staff, children and their parents to form strong relationships with one another.
Whilst your child is in our care we intend to provide them with the best care and education at all times in a home from home environment and they will certainly have fun!
Both my two have gone to the nursery, the girls are amazing and I can’t thank them enough for the start they gave my babies.
My little boy has been attending Runcorn Dunkys since he was 6 months old. I was very anxious to leave him anywhere at such a young age. However, I felt at ease straight away with the staff and facilities at Dunkys. They are professional, knowledgeable and are always happy to answer any worries I have regarding child development etc.
When we pull up for nursery my little one cannot wait to get in there. A great fun and educational experience in a well suited and equipped environment. CCTV throughout is so reassuring.
We love EVERYONE at Dunkys and the menu/food is amazing. Thank you Dunky’s Runcorn… WE LOVE YOU.
My daughter and son started at the Runcorn site when we moved into the area. They had always been at nursery and were sad to leave but they settled brilliantly. My daughter is now at school but misses the staff and my son is coming on amazingly. They are flexible and the staff are friendly and just brilliant. I work long hours and shifts and it’s reassuring that I don’t have any concerns leaving my children here because they are so happy.
My baby has settled in really quickly to Dunkys in Runcorn and I feel at ease leaving him with the friendly staff all day, knowing he is happy and enjoying himself
My gorgeous little boy attends Dunkys nursery in Widnes and I absolutely cannot fault it. He settled straight away and absolutely loves his time here to the point where he asks me mum can I go to nursery. This is all down to the time and dedication all of the lovely staff put into the nursery, the children and their families. He has learnt so so much and thrives every day that he attends. The staff are extremely helpful, caring, kind and are willing to go above and beyond to help in any way they can. In my opinion they are outstanding in every way all I can say is a huge thank you for all that you do for us as a family
My son has attended the Culcheth Dunkys from day one and he has settled in so well, he absolutely loves it. All the staff are fantastic & friendly and go above and beyond. The setting itself is super safe and modern and well equipped. Highly recommend!

Dunky’s has been awarded Warrington Healthy Early Years and Halton Healthy Early Years status which recognises our commitment to work together to promote the health and well being of children in our care. In order to achieve these accolades we demonstrated how we promote consistent, informed messages about healthy eating so that children and families have the confidence, skills and understanding to make healthy food choices.
It is paramount that healthy and nutritious food and drink is available in our nurseries. With that in mind all of our nurseries are fully equipped with an industrial sized kitchen. We employ a Senior chef, who has over 28 years experience in working in nurseries providing meals for the under 5s . She leads our team of nursery chefs to cater for all children’s nutritional needs including dietary and religious requirements. All of our kitchens are inspected by Environmental health and have been awarded the highest ratings of 5 stars. The nursery Chefs when determine our menus have researched the Caroline Walker Trust Guidelines. The Caroline Walker Trust is dedicated to the improvement of public health through good food. You can do your own research by following the link www.cwt.org.uk. We have a summer and winter menu over a 6 week rolling programme ensuring all children’s nutritional needs are met. The nurseries are open from 7am till 7pm each day. We provide a three course breakfast, two course lunch and high tea each day, fully homemade by our chefs. A fruit bowl is also available with every meal and fresh drinking water is always available all day, every day to all children.
At Dunky’s we provide a welcoming and relaxed eating environment which supports positive social interactions including good manners for all of our children. We encourage the children to be independent during meal times, setting up tables, serving their own food and scraping the left over’s away as they finish…. if there is any! of course support will always be given to those who need it.
We try to educate our children so that healthy choices become easy choices. At all times our teachers give out positive messages around nutrition and oral health. All of our children brush their teeth at the nursery and we regularly invite dentists to come in and talk to our children about the importance of brushing and oral hygiene. We also provide a wide range of activities to promote healthy eating as a fun, rewarding and social activity. Every one of our nurseries operates a gardening club where the children grow their own fruits and vegetables which are then used in the nursery meals prepared by our chefs. The children tend to their own herb gardens again which seasons our food made by the chefs. We recognise that children learn best when engaging all of their senses. When gardening, the children touch and feel the soil, plants, roots, seeds and petals. Children observe the vibrant colours, the sounds to the snap of the vegetable when taken from the plant, and all the amazing smells of the herbs and flowers. Allowing all the senses to be involved helps the children understand and grasp the concepts of gardening and sustainability along with all the mathematics and scientific concepts which go along with it. Children also attend weekly cookery lesson which are sometimes led by our nursery chefs. Children learn about different food groups, how food is grown and harvested and environmental footprints as food and drink is shipped around the world. Children feel a huge sense of pride when they have contributed towards the making of a meal for their peers for example baking the bread rolls to accompany the homemade soups, or investigating and chopping exotic fruits for our fruit kebabs or making and filling pita parcels for tea.
Dunkys uses food to promote special events and festivals. Every child who attends nursery on the birthday will receive a birthday cake baked specially for them by our nursery chef.
Our Nursery Chefs are always on hand to support families with weaning advice and menu planning for you at home.
